Is it just me, or does it seem like there are more dogs with skin allergies now than when I was a kid?

A bit of an diversion as I get into the habit of blogging.

Boy and dog

Are we trading allergies?

One of my dogs has major skin allergies, which we control with shots, drugs and constant cleaning/brushing.  As I look back at the list of many pets my family had while I was growing up I don’t think a single one of them had these kind of problems.   Maybe I had a sheltered childhood. (Uh, no… not likely!)

Perhaps it has something to do with environmental degradation. I’m sure I could Google an answer up, but if the evidence is anything like it is for humans, we are becoming increasingly itchy in this world.
